Hoodie Size Guide UK: How to Find Your Perfect Fit

Hoodie Size Guide UK: How to Find Your Perfect Fit

Ordering a hoodie online should not be a guessing game. A Medium from one brand can be a Large from another, so the letter on the label only tells you so much. The measurements tell you everything. This guide shows you how to measure, how to read a size chart, and how our hoodies fit.

Garment measurements vs body measurements

Size charts come in two types, and mixing them up is the most common sizing mistake.

  • Garment measurements are taken from the hoodie itself, laid flat. Our hoodie and tee charts use these.
  • Body measurements are taken from you. Our activewear, swimwear and leggings charts use these.

Every chart on our size guide says which type it is.

How to measure a hoodie you already own

The easiest way to choose a size is to compare with a hoodie that already fits you well.

Chest width

Lay the hoodie flat and smooth it out. Measure straight across from armpit to armpit. This is half the full chest circumference.

Body length

Measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, straight down to the bottom hem.

Compare those two numbers with the chart on the product page, and pick the size that is closest. If you are between sizes, go up for a relaxed fit and down for a closer one.

How Vazzari hoodies fit

We have two main hoodie fits, and they size differently.

Classic Cotton hoodies (Experimental Collection)

The hoodies in our Experimental Collection run small. For the fit we intended, we recommend ordering one size larger than your usual size. They come in S to 3XL.

Size Chest width (flat) Body length
S 50.8 cm / 20" 68.6 cm / 27"
M 53.3 cm / 21" 71.1 cm / 28"
L 58.4 cm / 23" 73.7 cm / 29"
XL 63.5 cm / 25" 76.2 cm / 30"
2XL 67.3 cm / 26.5" 78.7 cm / 31"
3XL 71.1 cm / 28" 81.3 cm / 32"

Organic hoodies (Nouveau Noir and Blanc Éclat)

The organic hoodies in Nouveau Noir 2075 and Blanc Éclat Society have a comfortable unisex fit and come in XS to 5XL.

Size Chest width (flat) Body length
XS 48 cm / 18.9" 67 cm / 26.4"
S 52 cm / 20.5" 68 cm / 26.8"
M 56 cm / 22" 69 cm / 27.1"
L 60 cm / 23.6" 72 cm / 28.4"
XL 65 cm / 25.6" 74 cm / 29.1"
2XL 71 cm / 28" 77 cm / 30.3"
3XL 77 cm / 30.3" 80 cm / 31.5"
4XL 83 cm / 32.7" 83 cm / 32.7"
5XL 89 cm / 35" 86 cm / 33.9"

These are the measurements listed on our product pages at the time of writing. Always check the chart on the page of the exact item you are buying.

How should a hoodie fit?

Shoulders

The shoulder seam should sit at or just past your natural shoulder. Much further down means the hoodie is very oversized.

Length

The hem should sit around the hip, roughly covering your belt. That is the length we design around, because we style our hoodies with jeans and a belt.

Sleeves

Cuffs should reach the wrist without bunching too much. A little stack at the cuff is fine and looks relaxed.

Chest

You should be able to move your arms freely without the fabric pulling across the chest.

Unisex sizing explained

Unisex hoodies are cut to fit a range of body shapes. As a rough rule, if you usually wear women's sizes, a unisex hoodie in your usual letter size will feel a little roomier. Use the chest width to decide: compare it with a hoodie you like, rather than going by the letter.

Big sizes

Most Vazzari hoodies and men's tees run up to 5XL, and some pieces go up to 6XL. You can see them all in our big sizes collection. Every size is made to order, so larger sizes are not "sold out" just because a warehouse ran low.

Shrinkage

Cotton-rich fabrics can shrink slightly if washed hot or tumble-dried on high heat. To keep your fit, wash inside out at 30°C or below and dry on low or hang to dry. Our knitwear may shrink slightly after the first wash, so allow for that if you are between sizes.

If it does not fit

Every piece is made to order, but our returns still apply: you can return within 30 days, free of charge. See our shipping and returns page for how it works.

FAQ

Do Vazzari hoodies run small?

The Classic Cotton hoodies in the Experimental Collection run small, so we recommend sizing up one. The organic hoodies have a comfortable unisex fit.

Should I size up for an oversized look?

Yes. Go one size up for a relaxed look, or two for a properly oversized one, and check the body length so it does not get too long.

How do I measure chest width?

Lay the hoodie flat and measure straight across from armpit to armpit.

What is the biggest size you make?

Most hoodies go up to 5XL. Some pieces, including our all-over-print zip hoodies, go up to 6XL.

Are the measurements in cm or inches?

Both. Every chart lists centimetres and inches.
